Naida Mazzenga wins big with her illustrations for Bad Name!
We’re thrilled to announce that the talented illustrator Naida Mazzenga has won the prestigious 2024 Junceda Award for Children’s Book Fiction with her stunning work on Bad Name – a captivating lift-the-flap book written by the acclaimed author Bel Olid!
The Junceda Award, presented by the Catalan Association of Illustrators (APIC), recognizes excellence in illustration. This year’s jury, composed of Anna Berbiela, Diego Areso, Gabri Molist, Magoz, and Susana Blasco, selected Naida’s illustrations for their “visual and chromatic richness that reinforces the book’s message”.
Unmasking the truth behind Bad Name
Bad Name invites readers to reconsider their perceptions of often-misunderstood creatures like wolves, spiders, sharks, and crocodiles. Once again, Bel Olid explores themes of identity and social justice, challenging traditional narratives with a raw honesty and bold language.
With Bel’s witty and informative text, and Naida’s whimsical illustrations, Bad Name challenges stereotypes, encourages empathy and leaves young readers with a fresh perspective.
Huge congratulations, Naida! We can’t wait to see what you will bring us next!
